Warden Station - TTC Construction Updates
WARDEN STATION UPDATE FROM TTC
Happy New
Year! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable holiday season.
I am pleased
to share that the TTC continues to make significant progress on the Warden Station Easier
Access and Modernization Project. To date, we have completed
critical work, including utility relocations, electrical upgrades, demolition
within the station to create an elevator shaft at the subway platform, and
state-of-good-repair improvements. Once completed by the end of 2027, the new
Warden Station will feature:
- Two new elevators, connecting the Passenger Pick-Up/Drop-Off area
(PPUDO), concourse level, and subway platform.
- Enhanced signage and wayfinding to improve navigation.
- A
modern
at-grade bus terminal replacing the existing structure.
Beginning January 5, 2025:
·
Permanent Closure of the Bus Terminal
- The current
bus terminal at Warden Station will be permanently closed to facilitate
its demolition and replacement.
·
Temporary Bus Terminal
- Temporary
bus platforms will be located on Warden Avenue, approximately 250 meters (a
three-minute walk) from the station entrance.
·
Customer Pick-Up and Drop-Off
- A temporary
waiting lot for customer pick-up and drop-off will be available south of
the temporary bus terminal on Warden Avenue.
·
New Bus Boarding Locations
- Inside the Temporary Bus Loop:
- Routes: 9
Bellamy, 16 McCowan, 17 Birchmount, 117 Birchmount South, 69 Warden
South, 135 Gerrard, and Wheel-Trans.
- On Warden Avenue (Outside the Station):
- Routes: 8
Broadview, 68 Warden/968 Warden Express, 102 Markham Road/902 Markham
Road Express.
·
Unpaid Bus Terminal Area
- The
temporary bus terminal will not have fare gates. Customers must pay fares
when boarding a bus. Fare enforcement will be in effect. Fare Payment
Reminders:
- PRESTO, Debit, or Credit Cards: Tap your card at the start of your journey and again
when transferring to another vehicle.
- Cash, Tickets, or Tokens: Collect a paper transfer as Proof-of-Payment and
show it when requested.
·
Service
changes
- These
changes will only impact bus pick-up and drop-off locations at Warden
Station. There are no changes to scheduled service or routing at Warden
Station at this time.
