Pilkington Pedestrian Pollinator Pathway Party
Time: 2:00 - 4:00pm
Location: Pilkington Pedestrian Pollinator Pathway,
74 Santamonica Ave.
Event Description:
The Pilkington Pedestrian Pollinator Pathway was created in 2022 by local volunteers to provide habitat for native pollinators. We want to celebrate this accomplishment and engage the community in maintaining this amazing garden. This is a free event, and we invite all participants to do 15 minutes - 30 minutes of weeding and clean up to help make our Pollinator Pathway as beautiful as possible!
Activities:
Native Plant Sale
Echo Railton who lives in our neighbourhood has a large nursery of native plants that will be on sale at this event so you can start your own native pollinator garden. Plants will be sold for $2-5 each and include plants like milkweed, blue vervain and asters. Volume discounts available.
Chalk Sidewalk Drawing
We'll have lots of chalk and local artists leading chalk drawing on the sidewalk of the Pollinator Pathway for families, adults and kids!
Fairy House Building
You can't have a pollinator garden without fairies and fairies need homes to live in (there's a housing crisis for fairies too). Come and build some Fairy Houses for our local fairies; materials will be provided.
Big Bubble Fun
We'll have regular and BIG bubbles for kids to play with. They are also how fairies travel from place to place and are integral in attracting garden fairies.
Ice Cream Truck
Pollinator Garden Weeding
Join us for 15 – 30 minutes of weeding the garden then join in on the fun activities we have planned. Tools and gloves will be provided or bring your own.
